On Saturday, February 8th we gathered at Medicine for Nightmares Bookstore and Gallery in Occupied Ohlone lands (San Francisco) to discuss theorizations on fascism from the Zapatistas and Black Panthers.
We read out loud and discussed Chapter 4 of Palestine 1492, called “Panthers and Jaguars”, which references Maya philosophy, the Zapatista Army for National Liberation, and George Jackson’s 1971 collection of prison letters to help us read power from below.
Throughout our conversation, we referenced the Zapatistas’ theorizations of global capital since the 1990s as compiled in The Fourth World War (Paliacate Press, 2024).
